Caltech vs Princeton

princeton.....

My computer spazzed out and posted like 10 times, I don't know why. I'd appreciate it if a mod or something deleted my extra posts.

Edit: thank you

You would say that Rick

Lol, i would say that

At the grad. level, I was always under the impression that Princetonā€™s math dept. is considered the best in the world. I remember reading somewhere that roughly half of all Fieldā€™s Medalists have been affiliated with Princeton either as a grad. student, post-doc or faculty member.

Maybe a math ph.d student can chime in.

how did you get into princeton AND caltech? I thought princeton was single choice early action?

This thread is over 3 years old.

@Hampster, for math graduate school, there isnā€™t really a best in the world. Princeton is way up there and not to be beaten, but there are others up there.

Yes this thread is outdated :)

Also, Fields Medalists arenā€™t the way Iā€™d measure, because theyā€™re the exception, even for a school as good as Princeton.

Thereā€™s no way Princeton math is better than Harvard math. There are some things it may do better, but definitely no landslide victory for either.
