i think in the future i want to go to medical school, but i really love caltech...here are some of the factors:

Positives
caltech: love the campus and student community, great professors, many research opportunities, nice town
ucsd: guaranteed admission into ucsd medical school, no mcat, no medical school interviews, only 12 out of 200 applied were accepted

negatives
caltech: too narrow?, gpa will probably drop, have to go through medical applicaitons
ucsd: not the best undergrad study, huge campus, many people

take the med program!
because I have talked to soo many caltech people doing premed and they said that it is very very hard to get into a med schooo, especially as good as UCSD

and personally, I am turning down caltech for a med program as well :)

im in the caltech-ucsd med scholars program. maybe im just weird.. but sometimes i really wish i could go to ucsd. i guess i will get to enjoy ucsd for med school...

i personally really love caltech and ucsd. both have pretty interesting undergraduate environments. i think that because ucsd does a combined program w/ caltech, at least from talking to dr. kelly, they seem to be very understanding that caltech is much harder than most universities and the gpas will be slightly lower. also, because u were already accepted there.. im guessing ull prob be able to be accepted again. i think that you'll still have an interview for med school w/ dr. kelly if she doesnt leave. so she already has a good impression of you and wants u at the med school. i duno why they wouldnt accept u again.

also, because there is the caltech-ucsd med scholars.. maybe consider asking dr. kelly if u could do that track instead? i noe she offered to let me go to ucsd for undergrad and still get my spot in the med school. since u already got the spot.. see if she'll guarantee it for you even if you go to caltech. its possible i think.

good luck. either way i think ill be seeing you in the future :)
