Caltech's Visiting my school!

Caltech is visiting my school. Though I imagine you guessed that by the title. That's amazing! Why on earth does caltech need to recruit? I know they don't have the name recognition for everyone as MIT or Harvard or something, but they're as good or better! Why on earth is Caltech visiting my Georgia public school? Not that i'm not excited or anything (and missing a stat quiz isn't exactly breaking my heart, but thats not the point!)!

All schools do recruiting stuff like this- it helps build their image, and also gives people a chance to ask questions. While you may know all you want about Caltech, most people don't. It's a chance to let more people learn more about the school, which can't be a bad thing.

In FL, VERY few people we came into contact with had heard of Caltech. We drove 3 hours to learn more about the school. It would have been great if they made visits to local area.

I can see that

Every school needs to have outreach programs.

By the way, Caltech has a low yield rate. I think like 45% of those who get in actually end up accepting the admissions offer.

Wish Caltech would visit my school -- then I wouldn't have to schlep all the way to NYC to check it out.

so, you ARE going to attend the session? ;)

Haha, Caltech came to my school even though I've never even heard of anyone from our school ever going there....guess there's something to be thankful for the stupid Newsweek high school rankings...of course, they held a session for us here in Miami, on the same day as MIT by the way...haha
