Cambridge > Harvard Medical School

Hello, I am a high school senior faced with a dilemma. I got accepted into Cambridge Medical School, which is essentially completely focused on medicine and does not have any "unrelated" course such as literature, humanities and such. After three years of premedical training there, I am allowed to transfer. I have always wanted to go to Harvard Medical School after undergraduate, but the HMS website says that it requires courses which Cambridge Med doesn't have, such as expository writing, social sciences, the arts and such. I also got accepted into Stanford, and am waiting for other replies on April 1st.

Now the question is: do you think I have a chance getting into (preferably Harvard) medical school if I study in Cambridge for the first 3 years as undergrad? Or should I go to the US instead and pursue 4 years of undergrad? Has anyone heard of Cambridge people transferring successfully to US grad schools?

Any help much appreciated!

I don’t think this is possible because studying medicine at Cambridge for three years prepares for for internship and stuff in a UK hospital and not for medical school in the US. Studying medicine at Cambridge is not like doing Pre-med at a US university…

i would not depend your entire decision on 1 medical school
but i would say you are much better off if you went to stanford (if that was your goal)

above poster is correct

I was pondering the same dilemma with HLS vs. Cambridge Law. Honestly, HMS is not even close to guaranteed, so I’d take one of the best med programs in the world (Cambridge) now while it’s available to you.
