Cambridge School of Weston

Does anyone know anything about it? About it's college acceptances? Do you know how it compares to regular boarding schools? Is it good? Are the kids happy there? Any info on it would be really helpful. Thanks!

It used to be a hippie school (parents were older hippies), very progressive. That's how it was started. Many parents were Harvard or MIT professors.

My dad lived there about 40 years ago.

bump... (sorry, I'm desperate. this may become my safety school...)

There is someone else on this forum who is applying there. If you do a search of the school, you will find his/her name. You might want to pm him/her for more info.

What the heck does "bump" mean? I know I should have learned by now :o, but I don't believe I've ever actually been told what it means.

Thanks Burb Parent, I pmed everyone who ever even mentioned the cambridge school of weston, and prettyckitty, "bump" means you're bumping up a thread so it shows up on top. Save it for when you really need to know something really soon.

I probably won't end up at CSW, because it is my safety and I'm applying to like 5 or 6 better schools, but I feel like I should give it attention just in case no other school takes me...=/

I'm applying to Exeter, Andover, Milton, Deerfield, Hotchkiss, and Lawrenceville, and I'm possibly applying to Choate,Taft and Peddie, and I'm probably applying to Mercersberg and The Cambridge School of Weston as safety schools.

Do you think that's enough/a good list? If I don't have enough good match/safety schools, I could apply to Emma Willard, Miss Porters, Garrison Forest, and like, Millbrook or something.

I'm applying as a repeat 11th grader. My grades are good and stuff, and I'm not in trouble or anything, but I want to go to boarding school and it's nearly impossible to get in as a senior.

If anyone wants to help me choose/narrow down my list of schools, you can PM me and I'll give you my stats. Parents preferred, but anyone can help. I can use all the help I can get! Thanks!

That's what bump stands for. I think there are a few others, too.

I looked at CSW's website and it looks great.

If I were you, I wouldn't apply to so many schools. I don't seem the correlation between them all, either, besides size. What is it your looking for in a school?

I need really good academics, because I already go to a really good day school, so there's that, and I like different things about each school.

Exeter and Andover, well, I have to apply to those because they're the best and they both would give me so many opportunities... I love Exeter's harkness program, and Andover's just really good overall. I don't like that Exeter ends at 6, but Andover doesn't attract me as much, so I'm applying to both, and I'll see. I like Milton because they're close to a city, they have rock climbing, and they seem to be somewhat interesting. I like the whole focus on community at Deerfield, and although they're really good academically, they don't seem to be as competitive as Exeter and Andover. Meaning, the kids should be somewhat friendlier. Hotchkiss... I don't think it's at the top of my list, but I feel like I wouldn't hate it if I visited, and I should apply just in case. I guess you could say it's a safety. As in, it's hard to get into, but it's one that I'm so enthusiastic about going to. Lawrenceville is in NJ, so it's really close to where I live, which is good, and it's a good school. It also follows harkness, to some degree. I haven't really decided what I like about it yet, other than that. I'd rather not go to Choate because it's full of kids from NYC, and I want some kind of variety. It is good and close to NY, so it could be a good place to apply to, though. Taft and Peddie... those are both fairly good, and idk. I can't apply only to the best schools and nowhere else. I need to get in somewhere. Call me desperate. It's true. I really want to get in somewhere, so that's why those are on my list. Mercersberg seems like a pretty good safety, and CSW is on my list because I love their system. If it was a better school, it would probably be at the top my my list, but their boarding program is really small and I wonder what the kids are like. I'm not a hippie, I'm not goth, and I feel like I'd fit in a lot better at the more conventional schools.

wow im applying to like those same exact schools: exeter andover hotchkiss milton lawrenceville taft choate and cambridge school of weston. id actually be a 11th grade repeat too sort of, only im calling it a 10th grade repeat instead. ^_^

btw-
