Cambridge v Princeton v MIT for Mathematics

I LoL on the comment that you’ll get more supervision at Princeton than at Cambridge and the tutors at Cambridge are just grad students. That is absolutey a lie.

It was ridiculously difficult. Being in a room for 3 hours (twice!!!) and working and math problems was a really unique experience.

The worst part is, in those given 3 hours, I couldn’t even finish 6 problems completely. I got by with 5 and a half responses. Although I only need 4 good responses to pass, I still am unsure if I met my offer.

In the end, each test I completely filled a 20 page booklet with writing, equations, numbers etc. and the 4 page additional insert.

It was a lot. And I only did STEP I and STEP II (the easier offer as opposed to STEP II and STEP III) Needless to say, I think I did much better on STEP II than on STEP I.

Anyway, if you’re interest bruno123 (or anyone else), here are the links to STEP I and STEP II for 2010.

STEP I: [STEP I 2010.pdf](<a href=“File sharing and storage made simple”>http://www.mediafire.com/?la5jnnxkcgi)

STEP II: http://www.humyo.com/10098803/STEP%20II%202010.pdf?a=onTX0Be65sg

^ Yeah, I’ve done some STEP preparation for fun and some of those problems are nasty.

^ Are you thinking about applying to Cambridge? What schools are you planning to apply to?

It’s always nice to see an American know what STEP/how hard it is. Most of my classmates have no idea how hard STEP was for me, and simply thought it was just some other math test. Especially when people ask “is it as hard as Calculus BC?”…

But the one thing I must admit about STEP problems is that they are very well written. Most, if not all the STEP problems I have seen and worked on have this marvelous way of starting off simple and leading you through the problem. Then, once you reach the hard part, you realize you can manipulate/use the easy first part to finish the rest of the problem.

In a way, I like how they guide you through the problem without actually giving away what to do.
