congratz aw5k even though you are going to cambridge...

I got into both Cambridge and Princeton too,
I'm majoring in the Sciences (most probably Physics). Where would you suggest I go??

I'm leaning towards Pton at the moment....

Hey silver-rose,

cool, someone in the same position as me ;). If I were you, I would let the course structure decide. I think that @Cambridge you study Natural Sciences with physics, chemistry and biology and that you specialise in your third year or so. Is that something you'd like to do?

BTW, where are you from? Which one would be cheaper, Cambridge or Princeton?

Yep , i would in fact be doing NatSci. Well I don't know. Pton's physics is crazy strong too you know. That's why i can't decide.

I know, it's so hard.
The thing is I never really like Princeton toooooo much: I've heard there were snobby people, etc. But right now, being accepted makes me proud, too. Besides, I'd like to go to the states.
However, I'm 90% sure I'll go to Cambridge.

So where are you from?

"I've heard there were snobby people"

What makes you think that there aren't any snobbish people at Cambridge?

It's not fair of you to stereotype Princeton like that based on hearsay.

There are certainly snobby people at Cambridge just like there are these people everywhere. I didn't stereotype Princeton, I just said that I "heard" they were more-than-average snobbish people.

I think even the theU video about Princeton states that people there tend to wear shirts with collar, etc.

It's not only hearsay. But maybe it's exaggerated.

Cambridge ftw. I've heard wonderful things about Cambridge. Also, Cambridge is more internationally recognized than Princeton.

Cambridge is more 'internationally recognized' than Princeton.

How so? Sorry if I seem ignorant.

Oh oh, let's not have the Cambridge vs. Princeton debate again. This thread already has 9 pages :)

BTW: I think that both Cambridge and Princeton have international prestige and reputation.

lol............

I personally would pick Cambridge over pretty much any other school in the world. I don't base my opinion on acedemic excellence, though, but solely on the fact that the ambiente at Cambrige is utterly amazing. You feel as though you're in this ancient intellectual college bubble which kinda cuts off the connection to the modern and hectic world. Sounds gay? Yea maybe, but it's true, :D

aw5k, did you get into Stanford this year btw? I'm glad that we both made it into Ivies, although you're probably not gonna go (which is the right choice btw). Watch the movie the History Boys and you'll see that you've made the right decision in picking Cam. I wish I had applied to Cam, too, but no I somehow decided to apply to Oxford instead, gosh I'm dump!

Hey pearfire, I just watched the trailer of History Boys, I absolutely need to see this movie! Thanks for the hint! :)

BTW, I withdrew my application from Stanford after my deferral (I did SCEA). At that point, I know I was admitted to Cambridge and I knew I couldn't afford paying 40,000$ or more per year.

Yea, we're damned though, because you can't get the movie on DVD in Germany yet, sob. When I saw the trailer the 1st time I was like: "Ah you gotta be kidding me, I applied to the wrong Oxbridge uni", :D. I'm glad you didn't make the same mistake, though. Which college are you gonna attend btw? Don't tell me it's Trinity?!

Withdrawing was prob a good idea, since you'll get the same academic education but at Cam you'll have the Oxbridge experience!

No, I'm not at Trinity, but at King's. Nice, too :)
So did Oxford take you? I mean, Oxford is nice, too.

ROFL..

You started 2 Cambridge vs. Princeton thread on TSR too!

Yea, but nothing is sweeter than the birds' twitching in NYC, ^^

Man, what's wrong with Oxford? :)

Same dilemma here too - been accepted to Oxford and Princeton. Leaning towards PPE at Oxford at the moment, though.

Nothing at all, it's just personal preference. Didn't you read my post about the atmosphere at Cambridge? You know, some ppl love Oxford, some love Cambridge, ^^... Btw, which college? If it's Balliol, I'd go for it.

Merton - I applied direct to it; Merton pretty much remains my dream college, but Oxford simply cannot give me the equivalent of the comprehensive financial aid package Princeton's offered me.

I know I should be grateful to have the dilemma I do, but argh, I'm so confused! >_<
