Cameron Impact Scholarship Applicants 2017

Haha this website is super cool! It has candid information. I just made an account. I also applied Regular decision and found the scholarship through a scholarship database. Good luck to everyone and in defiance of the cliché statement, may the person who needs the scholarship most win.

Also, last year 2,500 people applied, 70 finalists were selected, and 15 were awarded the scholarship. They also called some of the finalists on Oct. 19t last year, so I’m guessing end of next week is probably when they will start notifying people

@univbound101 @rowinyourboat @girlwithgoals I just got notified that I am a finalist!!! Did you guys hear anything yet?

@TheRolf were you notified by email?

@yayhamlet funny enough I was given a phone call in the middle of AP Lit. He said that he will email me with more instructions later tonight. I don’t know if I was the only one called, but I do know there will be an email out soon to the finalists. I don’t know about those that were not selected

@TheRolf I got a call too! I couldn’t answer because I was in class, but the message told me to look forward to an email with more information.

Just found out that I am a finalist as well! Congrats to all those that have been notified and best of luck to all others.

@TheRolf @univbound101 Congratulations! Must be so relieving to get that call. I haven’t been contacted, so I’m probably out of the running, but I wish the best of luck to you two!

Don’t worry, it’s a lot of calls to send! I’m sure you’ll get it

Did everyone receive a confirmation email? Im not sure I got one and am worried about the status of my application

@univbound101 @swiftlover If you don’t mind me asking, what state are you from? I have a theory that they’re going through the calls alphabetically by state.

I am from Texas, which is toward the end of the alphabet.

@ftutelman I have so far received two emails, so I’m guessing you may not have been selected unfortunately, but I may be wrong. I know four of my friends were selected as finalists

I have never ever received confirmation of my application. Im wondering if something might have gone wrong with my submission of it

Were we supposed to receive an email saying our application was confirmed? I did not receive one either

There was no confirmation email. You had to email Admin Lucas in order to confirm your application and recommendations.

@ftutelman @darcha2 Yeah there was no confirmation email. There system seems like it is pretty new. As someone who does freelance webdev I was figuring out all the ways to improve the website and system

Congrats to all the finalists! I still haven’t received notification of any kind:( Good luck to all!

WOW! A lot of you were selected as finalists so congratulations to all of you. I sincerely hope you manage to get the scholarship!

Last year I noticed a trend amongst the selected individuals. They all started or expanded a philanthropic organization that really flourished in their communities. I’d like to know if the same applies for you guys!

Feel free to describe what you have done over your hs career! (confession: I’m a bit of a fangirl over these things, but I’ll try and tone it down :)) )

@onlyworthypotato I was one of the finalists. My big contribution is in volunteering for FIRST Robotics. I have created curriculum used by over 10K+ students from 26 countries, served on the state robotics board, created an organization of high schoolers from all across my state that advocates to government and business for STEM support, and developed a STEM feeder system that is being implemented in 15 states and Canada. I am also an international Robotics Dean’s List Winner for 2017 (Top ten FRC students globally). I also have a research internship doing material characterization for quantum computing, winning awards from the state level to ISEF. I also own and founded a start up that specializes in BlueTooth technology pairing up hardware with software for security and storage solutions. I also started my schools maker space, providing students the opportunity to experience STEM from all walks of life. I am a varsity rower and all around lover of all things geeky.

Hopefully that is a pretty good at a glance resume.
