So most freshmen attend Camp Texas?

No, a small minority of the class attends.

Probably not, since there are only 2 sessions. My son went last year and still gets together with friends he made at Camp Texas to play “Monsters and Werewolves” every week. He is also in Longhorn Band, so it was a tight schedule since Band Week is the week before class, but he felt it was definitely worth it. It was a LOT of fun and allowed him to meet other freshman who are outside of his major and extracurricular groups. The ONLY downside for him has been learning to say “No” to all the social opportunities he has!
I’d encourage anyone who is shy, from a small town or HS, or slow to “join in” to attend.

I signed up for it! Also, if you click ‘consider me for scholarship’ when you fill out the application you might get into the camp for free and get a Texas Exes scholarship if your EFC is low enough.

Do you know when they let you know what session you’re in? I want to make airline reservations, but I need to know which dates my son will be at the camp.

I don’t know, but you could always email and mention that y’all are from out of state. My son emailed to request the 1st session since the 2nd conflicted with band week and they accommodated him.

That’s a good idea, zlc. I think I’ll do that!
