My niece bought a custom 9th edition of Campbell Biology for college, she can lend that to my son. Are those any diffrent than regular edition? I’m guessing some extra chapters for college level? She is in a diffrent state and didn’t take AP Bio in Highschool so she doesn’t know if there are any differences.
Sometimes with different editions the problems are different, the page numbers different. He should check with a classmate to make sure he’s doing the correct assignments.
Some schools have custom editions…some extra areas of focus, some chapters left out. I would carefully check your niece’s book against a non-custom book to see how extensive the differences are.
Ask your son’s teacher. They don’t provide free textbooks for a 9th grader?
They provide online access, no physical copy this year.
Campbell’s is a massive text book. The school probably went to online because of the cost and the weight of the text. I would stick with the online access. If your niece wants to loan it to your son for free, he can use it as a supplement if he really prefers a paper copy over digital.
Online or digital textbooks mirror what’s happening in college classrooms. Not having the actual textbook isn’t an issue for my kids whatsoever.
