Campbell Biology

What chapter are you on in Campbell's Biology? And how many AP labs have you done so far?

We're on 11, but we skipped 6.

we are on 8-9, but we have done 4 labs already.

i dont even remember how many labs we've done...its like one every week and its freaking boring. I think we did diffusions/osmosis, enzyme, photosynthesis, and resp.

ch 15. skipped ch 11. my class done a lot of labs

i took bio last year, and we did a grand total of 2 labs. thank god there was no lab question

We are on 6, but we did 1-5,7-8 before doing 6. It is the most boring class of all time. does everybody use the collegeboard lab manuals?

yeah, we do. our teacher usually gives us extra stuff though.

My school started September 13. We use Campbell's 6th edition and the CollegeBoard's lab manual. If anyone is doing self-study I could send them the outlines our teacher has us fill out for each chapter (definitions, explanations, diagrams, etc.)...

Week 1: Animal Behavior and Chemistry
*Campbell Chapter 51
*Lab 11 (pillbugs only - 11A)
*Campbell Chapters 1-5

Week 2: Energy and Enzymes
*Campbell Chapter 6
*Lab 2 (all)

Week 3: The Cell
*Campbell Chapter 7

Week 4: The Cell Membrane
*Campbell Chapter 8
*Lab 1 (all)

Week 5: Cell Signaling and Cell Cycle
*Campbell Chapter 11
*Campbell Chapter 12

Week 6: Cell Cycle Continued and Respiration
*Campbell Chapter 12
*Lab 3 (3A.1-2 only)
*Campbell Chapter 9

Week 7 (This Week): Respiration Continued
*Campbell Chapter 9
*Lab 5 (all)

Yay for AP Bio! : )

I took AP Bio two years ago, and I don't think we ever did labs. Ever. We did do "virtual" labs, which were labs with the data already given to us where we just had to answer some questions. Half the kids didn't even do them because they were worth 5 points each. The passing rate for that class wasn't very high...but that was probably because most people slept through it.

Man, we're years behind. We did three labs (d&o, enzymes, mitosis and meiosis) and we are on chapter 8.

We did, I think 3 labs. We just finished Chapter 11 and will be have the first unit exam this week.

PS--Anyone has links to previous AP Biology Exams?

We did 1 lab... chapter 52-54 (ecology) and 1 and 2. We go very slow... i wish i went to a more competitive high school so that teachers would go faster.

my school doesnt use campbell. it uses some white book: Raven and Johnson, Biology, 6th edition...lol. And i hate bio cuz we have a lab like every week

I have a question though. What is this "lab manual" that everyone is talking about. My teacher just hands out copies of the lab instructions and the included questions. Can someone link me to this?

hey blah, if you go to collegeboard.com it is there to purchase, i think its called the official student lab manual or something.....just search for "ap biology lab manual" and i think you should be able to find it.

We're on Chapter 10, but our teacher likes to go in arbitrary order - 1, 2, 3, 5, 4, 12, 6, 8, 11, 10.

I can't make heads or tails of his reasoning. For instance, why didn't we do meiosis with mitosis? Vexed!

We've done 4 (or 3 1/2) - D&O, mitosis (w/o meiosis...), enzymes, and cell respiration.

has anyone bought either this:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0805371877

or this:

http://www.amazon.com/Study-Guide-Biology-Martha-Taylor/dp/0805371559/

i cant really tell which one i should get....getting both seems like overkill....does anyone have any suggestions?

for ap exam get the top one. for just regular use, teh bottomw one

That book is so hard to understand.
