On paper, Lafayette College sounds like a wonderful place with a great combination of liberal arts and engineering. However, most of the student reviews that are posted on the various sights makes it sound like it is an extension of a prep school with over privileged kids with the same personality. That unless you are in their crowd, you have no place there and making it sound like an unappealing place for those who do not fit that description. Would someone who knows the place well care to comment?

I’m a current Lafayette student (class of 2014) and I do not fit the description provided above. I’m an international student and I have no problem finding my place here. The people here are pretty chill and I’ve met lots of awesome people (including professors and staff) who’ve made me not miss home so much. I absolutely love Lafayette, specially the engineering program. The past year has been one of the most amazing I’ve ever had.

Thank you so much. That is what I hoped and suspected that I would hear. While those reviews can be helpful in many respects, you often find that some people write things that need "“to be taken with a grain of salt” and skew the impression away from the truth

Glad you are happy with your college choice. Good luck with the next three years!
