I've heard that campus dining is really expensive. Is this true? How much does a student usually spend a day?

It’s expensive, but if you generally like to eat off-campus, you’re still going to end up with extra meal points at the end of the year.

My class only got 1800/year (I think you guys get like 2800 or something ridiculous like that), and I ended up with a few hundred after the year was over.

Starting with the 2008-2009 school year (this year), first-year (or dorm) students get $2,800 on their meal point plans (from what I’ve heard), while second-year (or apartment) students get $2,100.

If you only eat at dining halls, apartment residents/second year students will run out of money before the school year is over. First year/res hall residents could be able to stretch the food points all year, if they’re careful with what they buy.

The school expects students who live in apartments (who are usually second-year students, and who are more likely to own cars, etc.) to eat at price center/off campus more than first year students.

The prices at the dining halls are sometimes ridiculously high. Just avoid the overpriced stuff

What are the best/cheapest places to eat off campus? Any that I could walk or bike to? I want to save as much money as I can…

yelp – most of the places around campus are rated by students :)
