Campus Housing- Chance to get 1st Choice

Hi , my daughter was accepted into all the colleges/campus' however I think she will only go to Rutgers if she gets into Cook campus . Problem and question is that we are still considering other schools, and won't make a decision until probably late april- what is chance that there will still be availablity in Cook?

(Rutgers guarantees housing but does not guarantee that you will get your first choice.

thanks

Cook probably won't fill up toooo fast for freshmen. I'd just get in your application as soon as possible once you make your decision.

I would believe that CAC (college ave) would fill up first and then busch in terms of popularity. I would say she has a good chance of getting into COOK.

sbaresich-
Our son is a junior at Rutgers, Mason Gross School of the Arts and lives in Starkey Apts this year on Cook campus.

He (and we) were very sure he should try to get on campus housing again for next year on Cook. It turns out he needed to secure the 3 other kids to sign onto a Cook apt....couldn't just submit his own request for housing. MANY kids opt for off campus after 1st year so it wasn't turning out to be easy for him and his one roommate to find the other 2 to sign on.
It was making me crazed that he would be forced to rent off campus in New Brunswick......just a project we weren't interested in.
ANYWAY, Son talked to an actual live caring person in the Rutgers/Cook oncampus housing office.......she gave him advice on where to post his 'roommate needed' ads and also passed his contact info on to some others searching. Unbelievably great customer service!

Housing office also confirmed what others have said here that College Ave fills up first.....but openings were still available for Cook. Cook is a bit remote but lovely and perhaps safer, in appearance.
Convenient for our son......
Maybe call to housing to discuss your concerns...

Thanks everyone I appreciate your input ( and I will call- music mom)

How fast does Busch get filled out?

Hey U Guys I'm A New Member. Im Attending Rutgers This Fall Andi Was Curious Is There Any Current Or Incoming Rutgers Students Out There That Can Update Me On Wat To Expect From The College. Also I'm Really Into Theatre So If U Have Seen Any Theatre Groups On Campus Can U Give Me A Heads Up On If There Any Good Or Not? Thx!!

Word on the street is that no freshmen will be able to live on College Ave next year. With the consolidation of the campuses, all students had the option to live on College Ave (instead of just the campus they attended), and now there isn't enough room for freshmen because everyone wanted to live there. They'll probably be stuck on Livingston, Cook, or Douglas.

(This is just what I heard from my sister, a current student, so someone may want to check with the housing office first or something.)

^Thats kind of bull if you ask me. They should at least find a better way than giving choice to upperclassmen. I can respect that seniority plays a role but giving freshmen no choice at all, especially if a lot of them end up needing to be on College Ave due to wherever there classes are is just wrong.

Word on the street is ridiculous. College Ave has a LOT of room for freshman. Clothier, Tinsley, half of Brett are all dedicated to freshmen. And Clothier is muy grande.

Supermtt pretty much summed it up. They have designated first-year housing for freshman so no worries.

TheRoadUntaken, what year are you at Rutgers and which campus do you live in?
