Hi!

I am entering this year as a freshman to UMD and I was wondering where is the best place to dorm. I am an honors student and I am majoring in chemical engineering. What is the best dorm and why? I really appreciate this, thank you very much.

As a freshman in the Honors College, with a few exceptions, where you live is decided by which LLC you joined.

I joined the University Honors LLC if that helps.

I believe that will be in Ellicott this fall, moving from Denton. Anyone able to confirm?

I was researching the dorms and I found that Anne Arundel and Queen Anne are the best Halls, but which one is better for an engineer or are they the same? And which one is all-around better?

astrophysicsmom, University Honors is moving to Hagerstown.

Thanks for the correction.

Burnx545, both of those dorms are very similar. Again, however, the odds of you being placed there are very, very slim. The spots are almost all taken by sophomores long before the freshman room assignment starts. Just wanting to make sure your expectations are accurate. There are always a few last-minute openings that may get filled with freshmen, but then you have the issue of perhaps being the only freshman on the floor…which makes it a bit harder to meet other people on the floor. When practically everyone on the floor is a freshman, usually everyone is more sociable to each other, at least until friendships form.

@burnx545x - You definitely will not be in Queen Anne’s, as it is restricted to only students in DCC (Digital Cultures and Creativity) next year.
