Dear CCers,

I'm thinking of reapplying to more schools this year, but financial aid is the barrier I faced with the last admissions cycle and that will probably be the case this year. I was just wondering if there are any jobs offered at prep schools to offset some of the costs? It might be easier than applying for FA again...

Well, it really depends on how much FA you need, I guess. The fact is that ANY jobs you can find on campus will pay very little - not enough to even put a dent in tuition costs. At Andover, at least, the extent of paid jobs I could find was babysitting for House Counselors, and I know no one at Andover who has any sort of weekend or off-campus job.

Definitely don’t look at jobs at school as a way to help pay for your tuition. In my case, babysitting money was more or less my allowance as the money I received from home was only enough for bare essentials, like laundry detergent and the occasional microwave meals I bought when I missed dinner thanks to games and inter-school club conferences.

At Exeter, there are jobs that pay $7.50 an hour; however, you can only work 6 hours a week.
