Hello everyone!

So I recently just got accepted into University of Denver and Duquesne University :)

I was wondering if anyone who currently attends one of these schools could give me a lowdown on campus life. I'm talking social/night life, dorm life (which is the best dorm in your opinion, and why?), greek life, sports, the food, the students, the weather, clubs, activities, etc. I also want to know, how much of a commuter school are this schools?

Thank you to whoever responds!

Hello ichoosehouse!

I am a current second year student at the University of Denver and loving it! The campus life here is so varied in so many ways, and it caters to many different styles. Like any college campus you will find parties to attend if that is more your style. However if it’s not really your scene then you will find a lot to do on campus, such as the DUPB movie showings every Thursday night, Late Night at the Pub, etc. If you’re interested in Greek Life we have 9 fraternities and 6 sororities on campus and they’re reallly involved on campus, about 20% of our student population is involved in Greek Life. Or if you choose to live on campus we have 3 first year residence halls, five living and learning communities, and 2 integrated learning communities to pick from. Centennial Halls and Centennial Towers are both on the North side of campus near the Ritchie Center and Sturm Hall(just about everyone has a class there at some point). Towers has suite style rooms, while Halls has indiviudal dorm rooms as well as a dining halls. Johnson-McFarlane is on the South Side of campus near the science and music buildings. It’s a bit smaller than Halls and Towers and it is all co-ed. All of our sports are D-1 sports, we’re known for having one of the best hockey teams around! We have hundreds of different clubs on campus as well including the Alpine Club, cooking Club, Hawaii club, just to name a few. However you also have the chance to start your own club if you wish. As for food we literally have the best places at a walking distance from campus. Jerusalems(Middle Eastern Food) is very popular Stella’s on Pearl street is also very popular. There are restaurants that serve all kinds of different foods around: American, Middle Eastern, Italian, Greek, Thai, etc. As for weather, Colorado has 300 days of sunshine as well as great snow days which make for perfect weather to go skiing and snowboarding in the Beautiful mountains! Fall is beautiful here, you can literally walk around campus and see the leaves changing color and falling off the trees, it’s amazing. Finally, if you choose to commute DU has its own lightrail station which drops you off right in front of campus, and a Bonus all RTD passes are free to DU students!

So that’s pretty much DU campus life in a nutshell, I know it’s a super long response, sorry, but hope it helps! Feel free to ask any other questions!

Oh my gosh, this helps sooooo much! Thank you for taking the time to write this all out! :)
