campus life fau vs fiu

im thinking of applying to fau and fiu and im wondering which one has a better campus life in terms of dorms, how close it is to the beach, activities on campus, student interaction etc.

I haven’t attended FIU (and only been on campus once to watch FAU beat them in football) but I’ve been told campus life at the two institutions is fairly similar. I know FAU has more school spirit, brand new dorms and it’s definitely closer to the beach (the beach is literally no more than five minutes away from campus off Spanish River Blvd).

On the other hand, FIU has more Latin culture and 2-3 Greek houses, for what that’s worth.

(I’d go with FAU… but I did and so obviously I’m biased)

GO OWLS!

I attend FIU, and recently there has been a huge spike in demand for dorms and housing on campus. There is actually a long waiting list to snatch a place on campus, which has forced students to move out to apartments close to campus. From what most people say, living on campus is worth every cent and a lot of people tend to enjoy it. I wanted to live on campus too, but I was placed on the bottom of the waiting list, and my chances of receiving a room is slim.

^FAU has had the same issue. With 1,000 more freshman this year than ever before, they’ve placed incoming freshmen in dorms that were previously restricted to upperclassmen and graduate students.
