Hey i'm going to be an incoming freshman and i was just wondering about the social life on campus? What's a typical weekend like? What's a typical weekday like? thanks

depends on where you live/what you're interested in doing. Are you 'social'? do you plan on joining a fraternity (i assume from your name that you're a guy)? are you quieter? do you have any particular interests?

A 'typical' day at northwestern can be very different for two different types of people, there is a large element of the campus that is very outgoing, social, who go to bars on weekdays, and then there is an entirely other element of the campus who don't do anything of the sort.

personally for me, during the week i do my best to get work done, on any given weekday if i have class late in the day or if there isn't much work i will drink a little bit at my fraternity house, maybe visit a bar, or if i'm tired i'll just watch a movie in the dorms or at the theatre in town. I also went through phases where i would like to smoke (pot) on weekdays, the campus has some amazing smoking spots - especially the lakefill.

On the weekends i like to lounge around for most of the day, go out for breakfast, then at night call up a bunch of people and usually pregame somewhere in the dorms or my fraternity and then go out to a bar eventually. Going to the city (hookah bars, visiting depaul) used to be a semi-regular event during fall quarter but starting winter (mostly because it's cold and a trip to the city is daunting) i started spending a lot more time on campus/in evanston.

eating out is pretty popular too, if you have money to do it.

some people spend more time in the city/more time going to shows events on campus, or more time just drinking with a few people in the dorms (all of which are pretty fun)

lol! Seems about right.

thanks alot...if you don't mind me asking what frat are you in and what year are you going to be?

haha yeah i definitely agree with the above. i started going to open bars in downtown chicago a lot this spring quarter (a promotional group started doing specials for NU students) which was a TON of fun.
