I keep getting these flyers about how regular twin linens won't fit college beds, but I got one from UGA as well and my friend told me that UGA has regular twin beds. :| So for all I know, NYU could use regular twin sheets as well. I'm not at all concerned about fitted or flat sheets, since all I use is a fitted and I can just tuck that under. But will a regular twin comforter be fine for the beds? If so, how much could I get one for at K-Mart?

you can get the XL sheets at any place like jc penney or bed bath and beyond or linens n things. ive heard the beds really are longer and its better to go ahead and get the XL sheets, but not to get them from the schools program, cuz theyre uncomfortable and fall apart or something like that.

as for a comforter, probably the regular would work, but im not sure.

Are they just Twin XL sized? Is that it? If so, the whole campus linen thing is a complete fraud...they say "regular sheets won't fit these beds!" about a million times, acting like they're the only ones who have sheets that will fit these beds.

yeah thats all they are is twin xl! i asked some current NYU students when we first got the things in the mail.

XL twin bed is 80" long -- NYU has XL twin bed. Twin bed is 76" long. That's why regular twin fitted sheet won't fit. Flat sheets are standard size -- there is no XL twin flat sheet. Likewise, comforters tend to come in one size. If you want a comforter that is a little longer, look for something advertized as "oversized".
I think Campus Linens are pretty poor quality. You can do much better.

Thanks guys. We should really let people know how much of a rip-off the campus linens program is. Wal-Mart has tons of twin-xl sheet sets that are much cheaper.

comforters are also sold in twin XL.

Is Campus Linens the same thing as Residence Hall Linens? Because I think my mom bought something from RHL. (RHL is the four-page color brochure with various packages, colors, and also bathroom items.)

Yea...I think it says "Campus Linens" somewhere on it.

I bought XL sheets, but am using a regular TWIN size comforter, if that helps you any :)

Best thing to do is go to Bed Bath and Beyond, pick up what you need, and if youre flying in from out of state just buy those vacuum bags. Suction all of the air out of the bag so that your entire bed set-up (comforter, sheets, blanket, pillow, etc..) can all fit in one flat, transportable bag. I just did it - works freakin great.

Hmm, I don't have a BBB here.

You can do what I did, which I think is even better. They call it a "Pack and Hold" at BBB. You walk into your local BBB, they give you a portable scanner, you walk around the store and scan the things you want, then the list of everything you scanned will be sent to the BBB near NYU (or any BBB of your choice), they pull those items for you there, and you can just pick them up ready to go when you get to NYC. Free of charge. Less to ship.

I promise you, a regular twin comforter will fit fine on NYU beds. Do NOT get Campus Linens - much better to get a nice down comforter + duvet :)
