Depending on the kid, whole sets are really not necessary. My boys never could cope with making a bed with top sheets. I just bought three extra long fitted sheets for them and three cheap regular length comforters, two pillows and some pillowcases. To make the bed, all they had to do was plump the pillows and comforter. If anything spilled on the comforter, it fit easily into a washer, and there were two spares for guests if necessary or layering for extra warmth. They came in handy quite often. My girls got more complete sets of linens and my niece still has her stuff for college and wants the same color theme for her linens as wedding gifts this summer. Though a down comforter with a duvet may be a nice choice for someone like her, with my guys it would have been reduced to a bunch of feathers. As for towels, forget the hand towels and wash cloths. Just thirsty Costco towels that do not have a "shiny" side because those kinds are not as absorbent. Not that they made it home.

I have never understood the need for a full set...topsheets have always bothered me. I have always preffered just a nice down comforter and cover...all that extra fabric seems like too much.

I second the notion of getting a good towel (and by good, I mean thirsty). I like nice plain bath towels that are full on terrycloth on both sides. I have had experiance with undoubtably very "nice" towels that had nice, ornate patterns but the patterns led to lack of absorbancy. Just give me nice little loops on both sides for sucking up the water and I will be dry.

Has any one ordered from Residence Hall Linens? Were you satisfied with the product?

My older brother ordered through the Residence Hall Linens. He said its too expensive, and you can get better quality linens at a cheaper price at Target, BB and B, Linens n Things, etc.

Oh yeah, i guess he's somewhat satisfied with the products, since he still uses them (he just finished his second year). He just HIGHLY suggests going to the stores to get a feel of the fabrics. The quality of the Res Hall Linens aren't that great, in my opinion.

I would stay away from that company. Seems to me that Macy's, BB&B, Kohls, or any of those stores could provide cheaper prices.

I went to the site submitted in this thread http://www.hometodorm.com a few weeks ago looking for things for myself and some friends. Needless to say I was very pleased with their pricing, great customer service, fast delivery and high quality products! I have and will recommend this site to anyone looking for any type of bedding at an exceptional cost. They also provide ground shipping to customers at no cost... Great site suggestion, thanks again college confidential.
