campus question

I know Macalester is in the city, but is it a traditional campus too? Or is it smack dab in the middle of the city where you can't really tell that there is a college there?

also, does anyone know anything about Jewish life at Mac?

thank you :)

I just visited a couple days ago and I live in the area, there is definitely a distinct campus that is not just buildings in St. Paul. It’s a campus in an urban area that isn’t urban, which is nice.

I’m going to be an incoming freshman at Mac. The thing that I loved about the campus is that it is in a very classy residential neighborhood that intimately surrounds the college and creates a distinct campus, as jkaufman stated. If you have any reference, it is more of a UChicago than NYU or Northwestern. There is only one street that students have to cross…so not extremely urban in that sense. However, downtown St. Paul and the rest of the Twin Cities is at your fingertips. Definitely check it out! :)

I can’t say I know specifically about Jewish life on campus, but the [Mount Zion](http://www.mzion.org/secondary.cfm?pageid=10200) temple (Reform), I believe the largest in the Twin Cities, is five blocks away.
