I searched and didn’t see any discussion on this topic.

Looking at the numbers, UA has slightly less crime than the two urban campuses that my son is looking at, UW-Madison and University of Minnesota - Twin Cities, however, none are that great (D to C- ratings).

Is there any reason to have any particular concerns?

What numbers are you looking at? I looked at the Clery Act disclosures for all of the schools my D was applying to and I wasn’t at all concerned about crime at UA. The presentations by the University Police at Bama Bound made me even more comfortable. That said, there have been some off-campus incidents that I’ve heard about over the past year, but nothing worse than I hear about at home, and nothing that would make me hesitate to send my child to UA.

Here’s the website I was looking at:

[The University of Alabama - Crime & Safety | American School Search](http://www.american-school-search.com/safety/the-university-of-alabama)

I’m not overly concerned, just wanted to get some feedback. I think that wherever you are you need to have your wits about you.

I’m in WI and there’s a big drinking culture here. Every year kids end up floating in the rivers near the campuses. When I was a student, if you had a friend that was intoxicated you would sheppard him back to his room and someone would spend the time the night in his room to make sure that he didn’t choke on his vomit. Hopefully kids are looking out for one another.
