Campus Shooting?

Campus Shooting at UC Berkeley (Updating Live)

Is there any truth to this?

why would it be a lie?

i normally have class till 2ish at haas.

i feel good about skipping for once, lol.

this is madness, i say.

The school is falling apart, lol. Crazy stuff…

I was down at Sproul for about an hour this afternoon; I saw some teach-out circles, demonstrations, and some really interesting-looking people.
After that I went to one of my classes (I guess I killed the point of going to Sproul, haha), and I swear, 3 different people (2 of them complete strangers) just walked through the open lecture door, completely interrupted the professor, looked at the class, and said, “I have a proposal to make!” Umm, EXCUSE me? No, you don’t have **** to make. You just totally interrupted a poor 60-year-old dude who was teaching something. You walked through the door and didn’t even say excuse me or anything. And then, when I get out of class…BAM! Shooting at Haas.

Craaazy

Yeah, seriously, this is getting out of hand.

And I take it that the helicopters will be here all night again.

thank goodness neither the victim nor the shooter was W4C!

I thought the shooting was unrelated to the protests? I mean the majority of them were marching down downtown Berkeley when it happened right o.o? It is getting annoying having people from other occupy protests here, especially oakland. Some of them, not all, seem to have little respect for people/property.

** oooh…people that dont have WarnMe activated, be sure to do so

(via BearFacts>Personal Profile>warnMe contacts)

haha seriously man…earthquakes, tuition hikes, protests, shootings…awesome first semester! XD

But that’s impossible. Berkeley is a gun-free zone!

Foothill is a designated smoke-free zone, too, but hey :D

I was in the room with the gunman

When I calmed down and thought about it, I realized just really how sucky it’d be to die doing ugba hw…

^^One of four!?

Please tell us what happened.

All of my classes today had great attendance and no interruptions haha. Even O-chem lab lecture was basically full from 5-6pm.

WOAH! Are you serious? That’s crazy man. What did you do?

Holy crap, that must have been very scary! Glad you are all right!

thanks everyone. excuse my sloppy bullet points but i’ll just shoot off the key points (puns realized after the fact)

-s300t (haas computer lab, the room inside the lab with all the computers, not the open space)
-about a dozen students
-random guy no one notices sitting in the way back corner
-a handful of policemen walk in the room with a no-BS attitude about them and walk right up to the guy (does not look like a haas undergrad [after spending time at haas, you basically know the general feel of who your classmates are since there aren’t too too many of us), definitely older and someone i’ve never seen before
-cops pull out their guns at him and tell him to drop his gun
-basically we all hit the deck
-gun shots go off, we all crawl and run away scared
-evacuation for all of haas starts

the rest you know.

so happy the police were there to protect me from my own blissful ignorance and my lack of attention to my surroundings. i’d be a really bad hostage and would probably the first one to go… :S

the guy is in the hospital now. I’m really looking forward to hearing what his motive was and who he was… so random… I doubt it’s linked to the Occupy Cal stuff, but man that’s a juicy conspiracy right there…

Dude are you friggin serious? I wonder how the cops knew he had a gun, I guess they had seen it before and saw him coming into the room?

Anyway, that sounds scary as ****. Sooo glad no one got hurt (except him, but seriously…his fault) and it’s so weird that it happened in the middle of all this Occupy Cal stuff. I would’ve crapped my pants so good if I were in the lab at the time…

^ the cops knew because a librarian or someone apparently saw it partially hidden when she was in an elevator with him. She called the cops, they hunt him out, and BOOM. (well, that’s the story at least)

But DAYUMMM…glad you’re ok crow! On the bright side, you got to see gunfire in real life? yeah…not really…but still…

after watching so many shows, I can only imagine how the cops went about this with all their hand motions and silence and then BOOM.

All kidding aside (yes, that was supposed to lighten the mood), I am glad no innocent people got hurt, especially our beloved crow. I’ve heard gun shots before, but not in the same room as me! Holy shishkabob. I am so impressed by that lady who was in the elevator with the gunman. Way to go.
