<p>Did you, or will you be signing up for the campus text alerts? It sounds like a good idea, but I'm not sure how effective it is, and I also don't want to be notified constantly about trivial things. </p>

<p>It’s not going to be like AT&T where they send out random text messages and updates. They would only use it for evacuations, emergencies, and other things…</p>
<p>You only get a few. I believe once a month when they test the tornado sirens, and when something happens like a weapons scare, sexual assult, or attack on someone. It’s really useful.</p>
<p>You will also get occasional offers for discounts and special rates for services that UT students use–like cheap food or low rent rates. These are rare as well–maybe one per week.</p>
