The Hutt is right; most residents of the Hill walk, although many do have skateboards and scooters. (I recommend a Xootr http://www.xootr.com/kick-scooter_mg.html; I love mine. It saved me SO much time.) Note: Sometimes a bike comes in handy, especially if you’re whipping between the Hill and South Campus, or destinations off campus.

There is a shuttle that operates between North Campus – Macgowan Hall, to be exact – and Hedrick Hall during lunch time. It runs between 11:30am and 2 and leaves from Magowan every 30 minutes. Luckily, UCLA Transportation is launching a new GPS system that allows people to find out the approximate arrival time of the next shuttle by text, smartphone, or internet for all of its routes, including the Northwest Shuttle.
BruinBus (the official new name of the shuttle bus system) has one route that you might find useful for moving between the north and south campus. It’s called the Campus Express.
