Campus Visit

My S is visiting Vanderbilt during spring break (his, VU will be in session) with a friend. They'll go to info session and do a tour. They are both HS juniors.

Any tips/thoughts on what else they should do and see?
What have been your experiences touring Vanderbilt?
Any thoughts on questions they should ask?

Go to Ingram Commons and have lunch before/after the tour. They had a model dorm room open when we went…but that was during last summer.

Highly recommend going out to dinner at night where the students hang out off campus. Just ask and the guide will share that info. Gives a real good feel for after hours.

Go downtown and explore Nashville.

Will they be visiting on their own, or will a parent be with them? Is there a car available to them? On campus, they might want to check out the rec center and some of the sports facilities, which weren’t on the tour when we did it (many years ago now). The Hillsboro Village area is adjacent to campus and easily walkable from there - they could have lunch or breakfast at a genuine Nashville landmark, Pancake Pantry. Here are a few earlier threads on things to do in the Vandy area.

Thanks for the links and the info.
To answer your question, they’ll be with the friend’s mom and will have a car. So they should be able to see the sights.

check out the Exit Inn venues and catch a movie at the Belcourt if you have time to kill at night
