Where do you recommend I stay at when I'm visiting dartmouth with my parents this summer (preferably somewhere economical like Best Western/Travelodge)?
Also, what is there to see in hanover and the surrounding areas? Where can I get good food???

hanover inn is expensive but convenient
if not want expense...5 miles south in white river junction,vt
holiday inn express or comfort suites(not the inn the suites) both
2-3 years old and kept up well..ill be at express for soph summer
parents weekend...
for food eat on campus once ..they take cash
and look no further than hanover right down the street from dartmouth
lous for breakfast...mollies for lunch or dinner...canoe club little fancier..
for late night drinks or dessert and coffee the hanover inn has a place
i believe called zins..
there is chinese, indian, ben and jerrys, coffee houses, bagel place all in
hanover..
5 miles away in lebanon across from white river is every chain restaurant you want ...

We've stayed at the Residence Inn in West Lebanon. Breakfast is included, and the rooms are comfortable. The price falls between the Hanover Inn and the Comfort Inn type of hotel. http://marriott.com/property/factsheet/LEBRI

The town is small but a very pretty N. England town and Dartmouth a very pretty campus that is a dominant part of it. The entire area is beautiful though. Some things to see include:

Appalachian Trail which is partially maintained by Dartmouth and runs through Hanover : http://hikethewhites.com/at.html

Woodstock Vermont: http://www.woodstockvt.com/photoalbum.php

Quechee Vermont: check out the Simon Pearce Pottery and Glassworks, including a great restaurant perched on the falls: http://www.simonpearce.com/CSTM_restaurantsQuechee1.aspx

The best restaurant in the area, IMHO, is "Como Va", in White River Junction. Upscale Italian, make reservations. http://www.comovarestaurant.com/

also a Hampton Inn in White River Junction -- breakfast is included.

dont forget across the bridge from dartmouth in norwich, vt is
King Arther Flour Company which to cooking experts is well known
they built a new show room for all culinary tools and have coffee and
pastries to buy while you walk around...if you go to their web site they have schedules of cooking classes
http://www.kingarthurflour.com/
just go over ledyard bridge to 5 (south) left turn and its on the left side i guess a mile down

We like to stay at White River Junction - I like the Holiday Inn Express a little better than Hampton Inn, but either is fine. We like to go eat at the Three Tomatoes in Lebanon, and if you like cooking at all, the King Arthur Flour is a must do.

If you have extra time, visit Mount Washington, it is a couple of hour drive, but a lovely trip.
