campus visit

got accepted, when's the best time to visit?

When and how you visit really depend on what’s involved in your final decision. Will you need to visit several schools before you choose? Do some of those schools have April notification dates? If so, if I were your parent I’d want to make it possible for you to visit Mizzou (and other rolling admissions schools you are considering) sooner rather than later so you’re not squeezing everything in at the last minute. See the admissions website for upcoming Meet Mizzou Days and Black & Gold Days (February and March). That’s one option. The other option is to call or e-mail and schedule a campus tour and a visit to the department/school you’re interested in. There are pros and cons to both approaches. My son went to one of the organized admissions days and liked it. It’s cold there now, but that way you’ll experience Columbia winter weather!

I went with my son the week after Thanksgiving. He wasn’t going to be able to go during one of the organized days. We scheduled the tour and info session and also made an appt. to speak to someone in engineering. We also walked around on our own the afternoon before. I felt like we got to see a lot even though it wasn’t a special day. He loved the campus and the “feel” of it. I agree, go sooner rather than have to squeeze in several schools right before the notification dates.
