Ahhh, assassins, is it all over campus?

Various houses play more than others, but from what I hear it is pretty widespread.

What's "Assassin"?

A group of people select a moderator who provides them with "targets." These targets are to be assassinated. Game players typically, do not know who is after them. The game is played with water pistols. The only safe area is one's own room. Classrooms, transportation, the campus, city, etc. are all areas of danger. As the targets are eliminated more targets are assigned until only one person is left.

Assassin sounds amazing! I hope they keep going until I get there...

So there isnt anyway the targets can be safe?

From what I understand, one's own room is safe, that's it.

That sounds great- mind you, I don't know how I'd feel about being sprayed with water in this weather

The rules vary for each game, sometimes it can be that if you are hangin around with other people playing the game, you're safe, or if you're in class.

ugh, we play assassins at my school, and last year i got killed in my room! how unfair...

I wish they had played Assassin when I went there. We never had that much fun.

OneMom,

That is what my mom says. She went to Chicago as well. She was quite miserable there and said she never knew anyone or had any fun. I think things are a bit more fun at the U. of C. now, even though it still is the place "where fun comes to die."

I know a UC student who just graduated who always played Assassin. She would carry her watergun in her pocket and was always on the lookout. Eventually she was squirted by her assassin, who ended up jumping from behind a bush as she walked out of Bartlett.

Sure, kids study here, but they know how to have fun, too.

I believe things may have indeed changed. My S is doing very well academically (taking 4 very tough courses a quarter) and is having a ball. Does the typical stuff, assassin, parties, hanging out, movies, music, going downtown etc., but also loves the intellectual fun perhaps most of all. Says he feels himself getting smarter.

idad, I took an intensive course at the U. of C. over the past summer, and I, as well, felt that I was getting smarter. It was a wonderful feeling and one that I had not previously experienced.

The U. of C. does that to you. :)
