In respects to College of the Atlantic, we have vegetarian and vegan options at every meal, which in addition to great food, is definitely nice to have if you don't eat meat.

I would second Scripps (#13). It has a sushi night every week, and anyone from the Claremont Colleges can eat there (Scripps, Pomona, Claremont McKenna, Harvey Mudd, and Pitzer).

Pitzer and Pomona have better food than Scripps in my opinion. Although Pitzer doesn't have as much variety.

James Madison University and Virginia Tech...........both have excellent food and the students love it.

William and Mary is pretty good.

I agree -- James Madison's food is incredible!!! It's my dd's #1 choice and we tease her by telling her it'll be the Freshman Fifty that she gains, not the Freshman Fifteen! ;)

Good thing the campus has lots of hills and requires alot of walking!

Same thing can be said about Va Tech -- hard to gain any weight from the great food when you're walking half a mile across the drillfield twice a day!

I think all of the food in Claremont (Claremont McKenna, Harvey Mudd, Pitzer, Pomona, Scripps) ranges from very good to amazing. The nicest part is that there are 6-7 very different dining halls (7 for lunch, 6 for breakfast and dinner), plus at least 7 other on-campus eating options ranging from a coffeehouse to a pizza and sub shop to a sit-down restaurant. All of these are within a 15min walk from each other, and all have different "specialties" (i.e. Scripps has sushi night, Scripps and Mudd both have steak night, Pomona has a nightly wok, Pitzer has an amazing sandwich bar, CMC has an occasional milkshake bar, a few of the dining halls have excellent vegan/vegetarian sections, etc.).

Not only is it hard to go wrong on a daily basis, but it's very difficult to actually get sick of the food or the atmosphere. You can eat at 3 places in one day, and get snacks from a 4th!

I've also always been jealous of USC...Jamba Juice on campus. I know a few other schools have this as well, but I don't know which ones. I'm also told that NYU has some sort of system that includes a local off-campus Starbucks (I don't know exactly how it works, but it sounds handy).

i'll add my vote to Virginia Tech! when we visited, it had about 5 dining ares, all of different types and costs. the really good one, has a carving station!

My son and I went to a thing at Pomona College. They were talking about the food service, and how you can go to any of the colleges to eat. One of the administrators was telling me she likes to eat lunch at Scripps, especially on the day of the week that the chef gives a talk. Chef?? Yes, they actually have a chef!!

Connecticut College
Saint Anselm
Notre Dame-South Dining Hall

i'm probably one of the pickiest eaters out there, but i will say conn college does have excellent food for a college campus: one of the best salad bars i've ever seen (restaurants included), an entirely vegetarian dining hall, and the highlight for many- steak and lobster night once each semester.

If Olin had more students, it would be #1 on the list.

Keep in mind that dining services at many schools are outsourced to one of a few companies that operate across the country. Sodexho and Aramark are the two biggest companies, but there are some others. From one Sodexho school to another, things will be very similar.

Anotherparent -- The Scripps chef (Dave) is a rather beloved figure on campus :) I don't recall the details (which came from an episode of Inside Edition that featured Scripps...2004 or 2005, maybe), but his former job was as chef at a country club. We have no reasons in the world to complain about the dining hall!

Claremont's food as a whole is kind of an embarrassment of riches, but Scripps' breakfasts are almost too good. Better than my mom's cooking- she can't compete with that kind of manpower ;)

OMG, USC has a Jamba Juice on campus?! They should've put that in their brochure.

Now I'm totally convinced it's my dream school.

Which campus has good Vegetarian food? Any idea?

Re:Sodexho They offer different plans to schools. I've had two kids at different colleges w/ Sodexho meals plans, one was Olin. Each school had a different cost to students, and had very different options.

Good question (vegetarian food). Also, which schools do the best job with allergies or all-natural foods?

Connecticut College has an entirely vegetarian+vegan dining hall. Their main dining hall always has at least 4 hot vegetarian+vegan entrees.
Vassar and Wesleyan also have a wide range of veggie options.

I heard Dartmouth had the best food services of the ivies...

Bates = amazing food, and amazing Dining Services staff.

Bryn Mawr College wins awards from instuitional cooking magazines, and organizations, year after year after year .

Alice Waters the mother of the school of California novo cooking has just started a foundation to improve the quality of food offered at Americas school wish her well
