Campuswide Honors Program

@maroonafternoon, I got an email from Berkeley yesterday with the Regents invite. I applied to UCLA but didn’t make Regents.

Congrats everyone! :slight_smile: I got into Irvine’s CHP as well as the Berkeley Regents invite.

Is CHP at Irvine more selective than Regents at UCB or UCLA?

@annel96 @cutiepieee Did either of you receive Regents for any other UCs? Or at Irvine?

And I feel pretty confident in saying that CHP at Irvine is nowhere close to the level of Regents at UCB or UCLA.

My kid got invited to UCLA and Berkeley Regents’, but nothing from Irvine (assuming it is in the message section of the portal … it says “You have no new messages”).

It is not under messages. Instead, after you log on the home page says you were admitted. Have you checked again today?

One of my friends got this letter too, then a few hours later he got an acceptance letter. He posted a screen grab of his portal on Facebook and there’s a huge banner across the top of the page that says, “You have been admitted to UC Irvine!” I thought UCI didn’t start sending decisions until next month though? Is these decisions only for those invited to the honors program?

Nothing there. The home screen looks the same as it always did (divided into 3 parts–Welcome, Application Summary, Message Center. Under Welcome, it says, “Thank you for applying to UC Irvine!”). College admissions is so … interesting.

Appears that the UCI Regents Scholarships have been awarded. Look at the right side of your UCI page and see if there is a Regents box just above the CHP box.

^^^Yes, everyone admitted and got the CHP, check your UCI login. Amount is $2500/yr.

FYI the Regents notification mentions:

Freshmen Regents’ Scholars Class of 2018:

Our freshmen Regents’ Scholars class of 2018 is an impressive group.

Average High School GPA: 4.31

Average SAT Score: 2232

I got a Regent’s letter! :)

I just checked my portal and got Regents!

does anyone know the added bonus if you get regents (besides the monetary scholarship amount) compared to just receiving CHP?

Hi, does anyone know how prestigious this program is? Like, if you were accepted into UCB/UCLA and this program at UCI, which would you go to? I’m sorry if this question seems stupid, it’s just that I wasn’t really considering going to UCI until I received the mail (I didn’t even know there was an honors program here), and it looks pretty nice, but I just don’t know if it’s as good as an education at some of the ‘better’ UCs (my parents usually go by the rankings so they want to know). I’m also an OOS student (NJ) - my counselor isn’t as informed about the Cal schools, so I would appreciate as much information as I can get.

Thanks!!

@corsairre: It’s not a stupid question at all … I’ve read on this site of students that turned down UCB & UCLA for UCI CHP! I tried to search and find it for you, but I’m still new to CC and I couldn’t find it. I don’t know much about it because my kid didn’t get it, but from past posts it sounded really good so I was hoping it would be an option. Congrats to you!

@soaringcicada thank you very much! I also tried searching it up and it does seem pretty good. Hopefully I’m able to go to the orientation thing in April to find out more, but I’m not sure if I’m able to. I’m still waiting for decisions from the other UCs so we’ll have to see haha.

what is the portal web address to check status?

@rgosula https://services.admissions.uci.edu:8443/cgi-bin/myadmission.cgi

@yoamogatos Thanks for the details…

Is that UC Capped, Uncapped or Weighted?
What are the scores that got the invite?

My son has UC GPA of ~ 4.15 (<4.2), and ACT of 35. Great EC’s & Essays, He didn’t get it.
I think Irvine CHP is more GPA based.
He received the invite for UCSD medical scholar application (which is combination of GPA and SAT/ACT based)
