Can 529 savings be used for exam fees?

<p>My daughter has registered for her USMLE exam. I've been searching various sites and forums to see if 529 savings are permitted for such an expense without luck. Does anyone have a link they can direct me to that specifically addresses the question of whether USMLE fees are eligible 529 expenses? Thanks.</p>

<p>Page 52 of IRS Pub 970 lists the specific eligible education expenses incurred while attending an eligible education institution. An exam for licensure, the same as exams for application, wouldn’t meet these requirements.</p>
