can a b student ever get in

My D is a true B student. 3.4 GPA without any AP's three community college classes with b+ in all three. She has a 25 ACT composite. She is out of state. Good EC's. I know what the average is. Can anyone tell me if she has a longshot chance. OOS, from Southern Ca. Should she try, or forget it.....

Thanks

What major is she applying for?

If you don’t try, the chance is 0%. Consider acceptance a reach regardless of the program applied for, and neither business nor engineering should be considered anything other than an extreme reach. What is her class rank?

well i’m sure the person above me is trolling. but nevertheless, the chances of getting in vary depending on what program she is applying to. bioengineering, chemical engineering, ece, or other engineering major may be hard to get in to while education and dgs may be easier. in all honesty, it isn’t very hard to get in as long as you did your job in high school. hell, i got all B’s sophomore year, 2 C’s junior year, and 3 C’s senior year and i got in to specialized chemistry (also note i’m also oos) and i’m now transferring into chemical engineering with a 4.0 after two semesters. being a B student isn’t a death sentence to your chances of getting in, but it does give some uncertainty. just give it a try. depending on what she’s applying to, she’ll have a decent shot.

If she’s a full pay OOS student, that will help her chances. Illinois, like California, is in the process of defunding its public higher education system.
