Can a C in precalculus (or in general) ruin chances for UC Berkeley or LA

I want to transfer to UC Berkeley or UCLA and a philosophy major. I am stressed out because I think I will get a C in my precalculus class. My grades:

Summer 2009:
English 100 (3 units): B
Psychology 100 (3 units): A

Fall 2009: (I think...)
French 180 (5 units): A
Math 170 (4 units): C
Marine Science 100 (3 units): B
Philosophy 110 (3 units): A

No, a C cant ruin your chances, unless you got a boatload of them, and it dropped your GPA like crazy, or if you get a C in a major pre-req then maybeeeee, but one C wont ruin it

doesn’t look great but if all else goes well it won’t ruin your chances. Also, I would reccomend you retake the course if you have time, it will look better. Good luck!

What could screw you up is a B in English and a C in Math. Those are definitely the two most important classes in lower division outside of your major. To make up for that, I would take a gang load of Philosophy classes as electives.

I got a C in precalculus after dropping it previously. Then I took Calculus the next summer intersession and got an A!

God knows what the UC people will deduce from that!

wont ruin your chances at all. keep your GPA up, fulfill IGETC and prereqs and you will be fine.

and remember… philosophy is the #1 most accepted major at berkeley and UCLA =D
(For the 2008-2009 school year at least)

I’m a philosophy major as well, and i was stoked to find that out.
