Can a Double Legacy Get In

<p>Hey guys,</p>

<p>I'm white, Roman Catholic, and attend a Catholic High School in Michigan. Both of my parents attended Notre Dame for undergrad and grad. Most of my aunts and uncles went there. My grandfather is a professor in the Radiation Laboratory on Campus. My parents were married in the Basilica. My siblings and I were baptized in the Log Chapel on campus.</p>

<p>I have a 3.9 unweighted GPA/ 4.2 weighted (Ranks not given) Got a B frosh year in Algebra 2
I scored 2190 on my SAT (740 CR) (760 W) (690 M)
Waiting for my ACT scores</p>

<p>I got a 5 on the AP US History TEst, a 4 on the AP euro test.</p>

<p>I am in all Honors/AP classes.</p>

<p>Senior Year
Acting, AP English, Theology, AP Gov, AP Calc, Honors Biochemistry</p>

<p>Student Senate Senator- Frosh and Sophomore Years
Student Senate Walkathon Fundraiser Co-chair- Junior Year

<p>Mock Trial (10-12) Captain of the team. Attending Tournament at Duke in February.</p>

<p>Model United Nations (10-12) Attended Conference at United NAtions in NYC last year and attending Georgetown conference this year.</p>

<p>National Honor Society (11-12)</p>

<p>PArticipated in the 2004 Mission Trip to Guatemala where we built an orphanage. (Summer after Junior Year)</p>

<p>Basically, I want to know what my chances are of getting into Notre Dame. I hear legacy counts for alot so I'm hoping that helps me out a bit. I applied early action and i should be hearing soon. So please help ease my discomfort or give me a reality check. Thanks</p>

<p>Irishgold - I think you have a really good shot. Of course, I haven't seen your essay or your teacher recs, but ND does love a legacy, and you have really good credentials.</p>

<p>You probably have a fairly good shot. You have credentials that are on par with a lot of the students who I know up here. At the same point and time, admissions for someplace like here are fickle, so you need to recognize that fact. Plus, everything I've heard indicates that be it one or two parents who were domers really doesn't effect your status as far as legacy. While it does show your families ties to the school, which is important, nothing is ever definitive. Is it likely you'll make it it in? Perhaps. Good luck nonetheless.</p>
