Can a good ACT score make up for bad SAT scores?

I heard colleges place more emphasis on SAT scores than ACT scores, so I studied and retook the SATs after getting unsatisfactory scores, but I can't seem to score well.
For SATs, I got
1st try - CR: 600 M: 760 W: 660
2nd try - CR: 620 M: 710 W: 680
3rd try - CR: 580 M: 780 W: 730
Superscore: 2130 but some of the colleges that I sent my scores to don't take the best scores and look at all scores that I sent. Oh and my essays got like 8/12 each time, so I'm pretty disappointed.
I didn't study for the ACT and got a 33 (without writing).
English: 35 Math: 34 Reading: 33 Science: 29
Should I retake the SAT again or retake the ACT or neither? Also, will colleges take into account both scores or just look at the better one?

they look at the better one. science is usually the hardest for everyone due to the limited time and harsh curve. In your case, I would just take the ACT again.

Most colleges want ACT w/ writing, so I think you should retake the ACT.

The SAT is not preferred over the ACT (if it is, I doubt it’d be much), so just study for the ACT and don’t send in the SAT scores.

Go with brownman’s advice…

Your ACT of 33 converts to a 2190 on the SAT which is a lot better than your 2060…if anything take the ACT(with writing) again.

Alright, thanks!
