Hi, all. My daughter is hoping to get into Andover. We live in the area so she is close enough to commute. Do you know if the school allows local people to take a class there, even though they are not a full-time Andover student? I thought it might help my daughter get an understanding of the culture there and also (hopefully!) help her get it in.
I know someone who did this years ago, but did not know if it’s (1) still offered and (2) offered only to residents to the town of Andover, as opposed to neighboring towns.
No, unfortunately currently local students cannot take classes and “dual-enroll” at Andover as far as I know. There may be some sort of caveat that I don’t know about, but in my four years here I have not heard of that happening. Your daughter could however apply to Andover Summer Session. It will give a decent feel for the campus, as well as the opportunity to learn from some Andover teachers. In all honesty it is not all that reflective of the “environment” during the school year, but is a great opportunity to learn more about the school, and show interest. The culture of the school is totally different during the school year. I would be happy to PM you about it if you wanted a further description of the culture/environment during the school year vs summer session, if you begin to consider that as a possibility.
