Can a NON-drinker survive at Cornell (or any University)?

Haha i'm gonna smack you when you get to Cornell damn Canuck.

You know, I would actually take a beating from you if Cornell would accept me.

I'll see what I can do ;)

canadeah ur a girl right lol

I'm pretty sure [s?]he's a guy. Hence the comment about it being totally not awkward to have drunk guys hitting on him (I think).

I love CC gender confusion

I'm a girl, he's a dude

You're a girl? What?

haha, you better hope you don't get in bob

you better hope you don't get cirrhosis of the liver :p

Is drinking at Cornell really that big of a deal? I don't even like the taste alcohol...it makes me dizzy just taking a sip. Please tell me the social scene isn't just one whole keg party.

Greek life is really big and the fraternity parties are definitely dominated by alcohol.

Ohh...so if you're not part of a sorority or fraternity, you'll be missing out?

Nah, first semester is full of open frat parties and you can generally find some second semester

no I was not in a fraternity and I had a lot of fun. the greek scene is big but it is not dominant.

drinking is big (at what school isn't it?) but you can have fun without it as long as you're not preaching prohibition.

you say you don't drink now but I bet you will by the end of your first year. that's what happens to 99% of students that don't drink.

ne1 know what the parties are like?

yeah there are people that are having fun and talking (and socializing if they are in a good mood)

there is usually alcohol and music and sometimes even dancing!

Ummm, depends if it's an open party or a mixer

If you're at an open party it will be pretty packed...cheap beer, sweaty dancing people, you know the deal. It's hard to actually have a conversation in this environment, since there's loud music and loads of tightly packed drunk people. It's a good time, though.

Mixers are more laid back, I like them better, since they're closed. Mixers generally have themes, drinking games, and more socialization than open parties.

There are also house parties in college town, which are more laid back and have better music (not rap and the usual stuff kids like to hump to). I've only been to a few of these, but they were a nice break from the open parties of first semester.

nice.

are people generally drunk and hooking up like high school parties, or more mature, like social drinking

I suppose it depends on the people. You'll see people hooking up, but generally that develops into going back to someone's place. I saw a girl making out with a guy in a full penguin suit at a winter party, which bordered between amusing and disturbing.

HiIAmAnAlcoholic, youre my drunk idol.
