Hey there everyone! I’m an 18 year old girl who has always lived in NYC. I’m considering going to LSU this coming year but cannot make a decision. Before going to LSU I might defer and take a gap year as well.
I was wondering wether there are any people from the northeast who attend or have attended LSU that can share their experience?
Is LSU still an easy place to make friends even if you’re from out of state? Does the school lean more liberally or conservatively? I was in Louisiana this past November and loved the culture which is why I’m strongly considering it.
With over 22,000 full time undergraduate students, you should be able to make a lot of friends. If you have any trouble, just get a few extra tickets to a home football game.
I read recently that LSU is having budget issues which require cutbacks. Not sure if true, but worth checking out.
Where were you in Louisiana during November ?
Lafayette is beautiful but suffering economically.
LSU is in Baton Rouge and is an absolutely beautiful, large campus with big campus amenities. Have you visited the campus yet? Not NE, but I’m from Miami and my Houston daughter and at least two of her friends will be in the incoming 6,000 member freshman class. As a large school, the lean is not evident.
There are students from every state and many countries. We have visited twice and found people to be friendly and helpful. LSU would be on my list if I were seeking a college now.
