Can a PRINCESS get into UIUC?

Hello there!!! =] =] =] =] =] =] =] =] =] =]

If you'd take a second to chance me for UIUC, that'd be swell. I heard that it's nearly impossible to get admitted if you're not from Illinois.

Second Most active tutor in the school

LEADERSHIP:
*** Started the Fashion Team***
- We design outfits and make them, and compete against other groups on the team to see who can come up with the best wardrobe. It's serious fail because no one ever comes. One time I was the only person who came to practice, so I had to make fringes alone.
- I have recruited 26 girls. Only about 6 actually come to practice, and that many is rare.
- Meet M, Thu

*** Assisted in organization of "Revelation Week" this fall, which was a program in my school that pushed kids away from trying drugs and alcohol.***
- I had to RAP in front of all the kids at lunch for this.

*** Junior Leadership Committee ***

Key Club-Assistant Chair

RECS: My English teacher from this year said she'll write me a great rec.

My essays shall be creative and insightful! I love writing.

ACADEMIC STUFF:
- I want to get a mentor and do some psychological research this summer, since I want to go into that field. It seems like it'd be really interesting to look into something in that field that no one knows about.

sooo... do you think I'll get in?? Is it a reach, match, or safety?

UIUC will definitely be a safety, depending on what you are going to major in. Some programs are harder to get in than others.

Awesomeness. I’ll apply for “DGS,” I think it’s called.

Just Curious: How do you get a full ride to UIUC? Ar a good scholarship? I would totally come here if I could get a nifty scholarship or the like…

They are very stingy with there schorlarships. If you want schorlarship ( which I think you can get in a lot of colleges) try somewhere else. But I think you are very well within their rank of students (even better).

Yeah, your stats are really good. It should be a safety. I’m also an out of stater and got into the college of engineering with similar stats. Good luck!

zobasity… i disagree. i have a 4.2 W, 3.9 UW, 34 ACT, top 2.5% and i got offered the 12k a year university achievement scholarship. i applied aerospace engineering. i am OOS, too.

you have a great chance at merit money!

I got the same scholarship as ExplorerCY. They want to bring in talented OOS students because it improves people’s opinions of the school.

Your specs blow mine out of the water, and I got in, but I’m an in stater. I also heard they’re trying to lower the in state %, but yeah.

If you dont get in, there is no justice in the world.

ExplorerCY or FantomBassoon: Did you guys apply early? And what degrees did you apply for?

I applied for priority admissions, yes, and got in early. I applied for Civil Engineering. 2330 SATs (1600/1600), 4.0 UW (our weighting is really bizarre so I won’t include it, but I took all the hardest classes). To give some perspective, I also got into MIT EA. And yes, I’m still considering UIUC.

easy in for everything except maybe engineering but even that would be a pretty easy in at worst

“Just Curious: How do you get a full ride to UIUC? Ar a good scholarship? I would totally come here if I could get a nifty scholarship or the like.”

There is often merit money offered to out of state students with high stats. However, you should not expect a full ride. It is usually tuition relief that can be as high as the amount the out of state portion of the tuition (often offered to OOS who qualify for campus honors program) so you end up paying same as in-state but more often it is only partial out-of-state tuition relief. Also, engineering usually has more to dole out in merit aid than other colleges.

Citing the University Achievement Scholarship as an example of how it’s not hard to get out-of-state merit aid is false… as it’s pretty much the only merit scholarship available :p. That, and it also leaves you still paying 32k.
