Can a rigorous senior yr schedule make up for a lacking junior yr?

** Junior Year: **
APUSH
Honors English
Chemistry (didn't take the AP Offered)
Physics (didn't take the AP Offered)
Anatomy
Pre-Calculus
Spanish 4
+ Summer AP Human Geo self study

** Senior Year: **
AP Bio
AP Lit
AP Lang
AP Calc
CIS (College Level) Spanish
Internship Program

Depends on where you are looking at.

Oh sorry bout that.
Brown, Emory, Rice, Duke, & the lot…

Lol, are you from MN? Because I think CIS is only offered here. I’m taking CIS anatomy next year and CIS french the year after. I think you should be fine.

Top schools will expect you to have taken the most challenging classes available throughout high school.

Did you take any AP courses prior to Jr year?

so you have 5 AP classes and one honors out of all 4 yrs? are honors classes offered for every class every year or no? if so, its not lookin good

No honors are only offered for english and for all courses freshman year. (Which I took).
I took one APWH & Honors English sophomore year.
There are twelve APs total offered at my school.

And yes I am from MN :)

i’ve heard that making up for junior year in your senior year can be/is helpful… good luck

Don’t worry about what you can’t change. Work hard so you get high grades in your AP classes 1st semester senior year. This will show that you can handle a difficult course
load. Make sure you add some safety and match schools to your list.

So that “most demanding” checkbox that counselors have to fill out.

Is there a checkbox for each grade in high school, or is it just for high school as a whole?

It’s fine for Duke. I only had one AP during junior year, too–AP Calculus AB. It wasn’t because my school didn’t offer any either. Basically, I was just lazy. I took 5 APs senior year and was accepted.

the “most demanding” box is for your full hs career.
my counselor actually said my senior year schedule would push me over into that category so…!

thanks to all for the advice! (esp. momjr)

I think there are some factors you didn’t mention which will impact your chances a lot. What’s your GPA, rank, and how did you do on the standardized testing?

GPA: 3.96666
(i can basically smell my 4.0)

Rank: 6% of my class

SAT: 1960 total
I know that’s not great, however I am taking the ACT & re-taking the SAT

Self-studying AP Geo in the summer? How does that work when the test would be nearly a year from then?

there was a program through my school.
which has now been cancelled.

guess i’m taking creative writing at the university of mn now-
haha i’m full of random interests
