Can a student get the full Pell Grant amount in one semester?

I’m pretty sure the answer to this is a big resounding “no”, but I figured that I’d ask anyway.

Can a student get the total amount of Pell Grant that they’re eligible for in one semester? I applied for financial aid for the summer of 2015 (my school’s summer is on the tail-end of the academic year), but I didn’t go to school during the fall or spring. If I’m a full-time student this summer and I’m eligible for, say, $5,000 in Pell for the 2014-2015 academic year, would I get $2,500, or could I get the whole $5,000?

I’d contact my school, but they just started spring break. Plus I figured that this is more of a federal rule than an institutional one.

EDIT: Also wanted to add that I’ll be totally grateful for whatever aid I do end up with. Wasn’t quite sure how to ask this without sounding like a money-grubbing brat.

You get the amount per term. You can’t get the whole year’s worth of Pell for one term.

Alright, that’s what I figured, but I couldn’t find anything from Googling it. Loans it is.
Thanks for your help
