I know my ranking right now and I was wondering whether that ranking could change based on my first marking period grades of senior year, or is the ranking "locked in"? I may just have to ask my GC but I was wondering whether you guys had an answer to this. Thanks!

Your ranking can change until the end of the first semester! Good luck!

Oooh, so until the transcripts are sent, my overall ranking is still subject to change? Okay, thanks for the info!! And I chanced! Good luck!

Do all schools do this by the way, or are there exceptions? ^

My school does it this way, I don’t know about yours.
First transcript sent includes freshman, sophomore, and junior year grades.
Second mid-term transcript is sent in mid-January, and it includes the recalculated class rank.

Different schools have different policies. My kids’ school finalizes class rank after junior year. Their transcripts show only final course grades–not semester grades, mid-term grades or final exam grades. Because they report grades this way, there’s nothing at the midpoint of senior year that could change the class ranks from the previous spring.

So, OP, you should ask your GC.

^ That makes a lot of sense Rain202. So when are valedictorian and salutatorian decided?

@ Sikorsky, Ah, I see…Thanks for your input, I’ll have to look into how things are calculated at my school. Thanks again!

Just a note… the Valedictorian and Salutatorian at my school are determined by July of the year preceding graduation, they’re announced sometime in January though.

Does that mean that their rankings stay the same and everyone else is subjected to change, or that everyone’s rankings can change/can’t change by the time mid-year reports are sent out?

Thanks for the input so far, I’ll probably let the thread go if there’s no more opinions.
