Can all of your common app schools see ALL of your letter of rec?

If I have 4 teachers (A, B, C, D) who wrote recs for me, and I only list 2 (C, D) at a particular college on the common app, IF that college desires, will it be able to read the other 2 (A, B)?

Because I know you select which letters they initially see, but can the see the rest if they wish?

I assume you're talking about if they're submitted online....No, they can only read the ones that are submitted to them.

Yeah, the ones I submit online.
That is perfect because I I did not waive my right for 2 letters of rec (long story), but if I could add them again (re-invite them) and submit the new letters with my rights waived, I would be very happy.

Can a second person confirm this?

each college receives only the recs from the teachers you have named under "school forms" for that college. (you can change which teachers for each school so long as the form has not been started by your teacher) If you want the other recs seen, you should ask admissions (for the colleges to which you would like to send them) if they will allow supplementary materials by mail to be added to your application file. If so, you can always mail then

Well this is my predicament. I did not waive my rights (accident, long story) for my letters when I invited my teachers. They submitted the letters and thus I couldn't delete them. I deleted the schools, therefore I am allowed to pick the teachers they see again. I want to re-invite my teachers, this time with my rights waived, and then use THOSE letters (I would add an addition space or period so I could differentiate between the waived letters and non-waived) to submit.

Would that work, or would the schools get double the letters because the teachers already uploaded them; or would the schools "delete" the old letters and receive only the new, waived letters?

You may need to query CommonApp.org for that answer.
Son did the same as you , did not waive rights, but we are not worried about it, if that is any consolation.

It could be you will have to set up an entirely new account and reinvite the teachers you want to those schools

Is it okay for me to make an entirely new account?
Only because my address and everything else will be the exact same. This will not confuse colleges?

I really want to speak with Common App but they don't have a telephone number I can call; e-mailing is very slow and a limited form of communicating.

Unless you actually SUBMIT any part of the application to a given college, no, colleges should not be confused because they would not have seen your other account.

But if you have submitted any part of your app to a college, THAT college will know you by the number on that account.

You have to SUBMIT to each college on your list. They do not have your info until you DO submit.

Once you have submitted to ONE college, even if the others don't see the app, you may not change it. That is why starting another account for colleges who have not received ANY part of the app (or payment through the common app)should be possible.

Keep trying to contact Common App to make sure. Try e-mailing. Look at the "help" link, it may have the addy
