can an international student gain a scholarship

I would like to know if an international student can gain a scholarship. Can one gain a full ride as an international student. Or within which range can the scholarship fall, say 25%, full tuition, etc.

Oh I wish I knew how to hook links to other threads. There are currently at least three other active threads on financial aid for international students.

You need to check the policy of EACH school. Some schools do NOT award any financial aid to international students…including scholarships. Some do. Some award limited aid to international students. Some offer the same aid to internationals as to other students who apply.

Please understand that there are not a LOT of “full tuition” scholarships in the U.S. even for U.S. citizens. These are usually limited to the very tippy top of the applicant pool at certain schools.

There are even LESS FULL RIDE (offers that include free tuition/room/board/fees).

And most schools are NOT need blind for admissions for international students meaning that your ability to pay will be considered when you apply

Yes, do check other threads on this forum.

But, in order to get scholarship, you need to be truthful about your current standings and provide the corroborating evidences to get it.

Thumper - either copy paste the http address onto the post…or go to the link itself, right click mouse, then pick “copy shortcut” - then paste into post.

When you paste, it will automatically put the “prettier” link if one is available (as in this case)

But, to answer the OPs question.

Unfortunately, only the ivies and similar can give full-rides or top scholarships to internationals.

Typically, scholarships for internationals are either small, or they just remove the “non-resident” penalties.

And, the majority of colleges have nothing for int’ls.

Your best bet (even if you have a chance at ivies), is to determine how much your family can pay, and then try to find some schools that don’t charge a lot for non-residents…there are some.

BTW…what are your stats? and, what can your family afford?
