My D is a sophomore MechE and only one of her friend’s didn’t get his first choice - trying to get into Aero, probably the highest demand, with a 2.8. He ended up in MechE, 2nd choice.
To the original question, I’ll echo the first response above - all kinds of support programs, both on a class-by-class basis and general “how to be a good college student”. It’s what appealed to us when selecting a college - less “we have X prize winners and Y amount of research dollars” and more “here’s how we will make you successful.”
