Can anyone explain some things about pharmacy at UT Austin?

I've been looking into pharmacy recently because it sounds like soemthing I would like to study in college (I'm in high school right now), and I've figured out this much from my research: there are 0-6 programs and 2+4 programs. Unfortunately, UT Austin isn't a 0-6 program, but I did hear that they have a pre-pharm program that keeps kids pursuing pharmacy on track. So my main question is, is it better to complete the pre-reqs for pharmacy school at UT Austin, or is it better to go to a "better" college for undergrad and then apply to UT pharmacy?

By the way, I'm also interested in applying for Honors College, but since pre-pharm kids are only required to spend 2 years minimum finishing their pre-reqs for pharm school, can I still apply for honors at the College of Natural Sciences, or is that only for kids who plan on getting a Bachelor's in Biology or Chem?

You’d be amazed at the number of people planning to go to pharmacy school these days. It’s this generation’s gold rush.

UT Pharmacy School is notoriously difficult to get into. I know some people with outstanding undergraduate records at UT-Austin who were inexplicably turned down for UT’s pharmacy school. There’s just a huge demand right now.

Most of the pre-pharms I know at UT major in chem, bio, or biochem and then go to pharmacy school somewhere else in Texas. Being pre-pharmacy these days is very similar to being pre-med or pre-dental.

Thanks, but is there any slighter advantage to being an undergrad in UT in getting into their pharmacy school?

None that I know of.
