Can anyone explain the steps of sending ACT scores?

So I have taken the tests and I am not going to take anymore tests. I also didn't put down any colleges when I took my tests. Can someone explain the process of sending the reports to colleges? Like do the colleges recieve the same kind of report I got in the mail? And what is the purpose of the PDF file they have on their site for additional score reports. Aren't I suppose to just select my colleges without extra fees? Also did anyone have to go through the process of changing your name after the tests. They told me to write a letter and send it to them but I'm kind of confused. Is that all you need to do?

I think you have to pay to send your scores. Colleges get an official report from ACT. I don't think its the same one you get in the mail, but I'm not too sure on that.

Yes, you have to pay to get score reports after you test. You can order them online; you only want to use the pdf and mail in your order if you don't want to use a credit card.

Colleges may get paper reports, a data file, or both. A sample of the paper college report is here: http://www.act.org/aap/pdf/0708collrpt.pdf
The data file has more: pretty much everything from the registration questionnaire.

To correct your name, you can try calling ACT Records at (319) 337-1313. I am not sure if they will let you do it over the phone, but if not they will at least answer your questions.

What's the point of self-reported HS info. Mine is probably inaccurate and I don't think I could change that. Thanks Ms. Ferguson for your help.

like the SAT, are people now able to decide which ACT scores to send in? Im thinking of taking the ACT dry( incase I bomb it), because I am preparing for the SAT.

You have always been able to decide which ACT score to send in (or at least for the last several years).
