Dean's Honor Scholarship

General Information
Deans' Honor Scholarships are merit-based scholarships offered to approximately 100 incoming freshmen by the Office of Undergraduate Admission. The scholarships cover full tuition and are renewable for four years (five years for Architecture students) provided the student maintain a 3.00 cumulative grade point average and continuous enrollment in a full-time undergraduate division.

Students with SAT I scores of 1450 or higher or an ACT composite score of 33 or higher are encouraged to apply for this scholarship. Typical scholarship recipients rank in the top 5 percent of the class, have a rigorous academic program with honors and advanced placement courses, and have an outstanding record of extracurricular activities.

Students may not receive a Dean's Honor Scholarship in combination with any other Tulane merit scholarship, ROTC scholarship, Faculty-Staff Tuition Waiver or Tuition Exchange Scholarship. Students may combine the award with a partial athletic scholarship. Students offered a Dean's Honor Scholarship may qualify for need-based aid. Students suspended from the university for honor of disciplinary violations will forfeit all remaining portions of any university merit scholarship they have been offered.

Application Procedure
Applications can be obtained from the Office of Undergraduate Admission. Students must submit the application for admission, Deans' Honor Scholarship application, project, and teacher recommendations to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions by December 15. Architecture applicants must also submit a portfolio. Scholarship recipients are notified in late February.

General Renewal Conditions
The scholarships are guaranteed to match the full-time tuition cost each year provided the student maintains a 3.00 cumulative grade point average and continuous enrollment in a full-time undergraduate division.

Seniors in their last semester who enroll less than full-time may still receive the scholarship, but the amount will be reduced by the amount of the tuition reduction.

Other students who enroll in or drop to less than full-time in the fall semester will have their scholarship reduced by their tuition reduction, if any. They will be allowed to retain their tuition scholarship for the spring semester provided they enroll full-time, but may lose eligibility for all following years since the scholarship guidelines require that students maintain continuous full-time enrollment. Students who enroll in or drop to less than full-time in the spring semester will have their tuition scholarship reduced by their tuition reduction, if any, but may lose eligibility for the scholarship in future semesters.

Students who take an approved leave of absence may regain their scholarship upon their return provided they continue to meet all academic and enrollment conditions and submit documentation verifying the approved leave of absence. Acceptable documentation is either a copy of their college's approved leave of absence form or a letter from their academic dean's office confirming the terms and length of the student's approved leave of absence.
